MC: Two New VPs

20.March, Hyannis MA – Massachusetts Coastal Railroad President and COO Christopher Podgurski announced two senior appointments:

Eric Ciborowski returns as Vice President of Railroad Operations, after serving at the MBTA since 2014.

Ciborowski brings over 18 Years of Railroad experience, with specific concentrations to Mechanical, Compliance, and Safety Training. Podgurski appreciates Ciborowski’s “no-nonsense approach [that] will guarantee a positive day-to-day result.” Ciborowski’s Railroad Career Brief;

The MC VP Railroad Operations was abolished in 2014, when MC began its association with Iowa Pacific Rail Holdings. IPH consolidated operations management in Chicago.

Mark Renker rises to VP of Railroad Engineering, a new position at MC, fitting his 26 years of experience on the southeast Massachusetts rails as Track Foreman (Bay Colony RR), Track Inspector and Conductor (Fore River Transportation), and most recently as MC Manager of Engineering, Track and Bridges. Podgurski said that, “MC … is in a unique position, [partnering] daily with MassDOT, the MBTA, The South Coast Rail Project, CSX, and various private projects. Mark [will make sure] that we don’t miss any details.”

Renker will be in charge of all Engineering matters including, but not limited to:

  • Oversight and direction of MOW personnel and equipment on a daily and look-ahead basis
  • Oversight and direction of C&S personnel and their duties
  • Oversight and direction of all 49CFR Parts 213-214, 233- 237 matters and compliance

Renker also serves the City of Attleboro as a LT/Paramedic.

Both Vice Presidents will report directly to Podgurski, who plans to devote more of his own energy to developing new business on the railroad. “MC now offers 3rd Party/private track inspection and repair/construction services locally and throughout southern New England,” said Podgurski. “The MC also partners with related entities (Podgurski Corp. and Mass Industrial Services) for civil and heavy equipment that can be used to augment the MC forces.”
