15.February, Montreal QC – Maersk has officially announced their switch from CN to CP for dry rail cargo in and out of Montreal, effective 01.March.2021. Maersk said that with higher volumes continuing to move throughout the network, the container company will be diversifying rail service providers in and out of Montreal.
Beginning on 01.March, dry rail cargo moving to or from Montreal Racine Terminal will begin moving via Canadian Pacific Railway. The first targeted vessel for this shift on both import and export will be the Liverpool Express. Refrigerated cargo to or from Montreal Racine Terminal will continue to move via Canadian National Railway. All cargo moving to or from Montreal Cast Terminal will continue to move via Canadian National Railway.
The move is to help expand coverage through the Montreal gateway, aiding in fluidity within the network. This shift will apply to both imports and exports.
Inland CP intermodal terminals to be served through this change are as follows:
- Vaughan Intermodal Terminal (Toronto)
- Detroit Intermodal Terminal
- Schiller Park Container Yard (Chicago)
- Winnipeg Intermodal Terminal
- Edmonton Intermodal Terminal
- Calgary Intermodal Terminal
- Pitt Meadows Vancouver Intermodal Terminal
