CP: Direct Toronto – St. John Container Train

Canadian Pacific Railway Launches Toronto - St. John Domestic Container Service Via CMQ.

31 January, St. John NB — Within 48 hours of CP CEO Keith Creel’s upbeat 4Q19 investors’ conference call, Canadian Pacific social media announced that, “History was made today … as our first domestic intermodal shipments left Toronto headed to Atlantic Canada via CMQR. We are grateful for Canada Tire Corp and Loblaw Canada!”

The domestic containers are just one traffic category of the Atlantic growth projected in mutliple commodity and service categories.

Clearly, CP is prioritizing the integration of its CMQ acquisition, which was completed 30.Dec.2019, the day before the St. John-bound containers left Toronto, and barely two weeks after STB’s acceptance of CP/Soo Line’s Application for a Minor Transaction (STB #50099), delineating the process for absorbing CMQ. The 16. January decision schedules Board service of its final decision on 04.May, to be effective on 03.June.
